Second half of 12th century : Henry II often resided in his Manor of Woodstock.

1330: The Black Prince, victor at Poiters, eldest son of Edward III, was born at Woodstock.

1554: Mary Tudor imprisoned her sister Elizabeth (subsequently Queen Elizabeth I)

1704: Queen Anne granted the Manor of Woodstock to John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, subsequently Blenheim Palace was built on the site.

1874: Sir Winston Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace.
